little pain (take 2)

April 15, 2011

Here it is again. This time with the track. VERY VERY rough track.

Find that little pain and stay there

Stay there

Rummage through vast loneliness and stay there

Stay there

Just before the blossoming of the tip of a twig

Just before -

Stay there

You’ve received and incomplete

You’ll be stuck on some odd planet

Stay there with me, with me.

Take that little pain and bind it

Pile that dusty loneliness and mind it

Mind it

Quick cold sharpness of an edge

Sweet completeness in the falling

One more push and all the world lies drenched

In some strange light

Stay there with me

With me.

I really like this one, Hila. It’s a great color for you and I can’t wait to hear how it develops further, but there are several essential qualities that I love already (such as the interplay between insisting/resisting inertia and dramatic movement).

And, of course, there’s that slight ambiguity that I always love in your lyrics.

Thanks for sharing it will all of us.

For what it’s worth, many of the other parts feel much further along (musically) than right around “in some strange light”. I think that, much like the way you enlivened “Reckoning” at Boston Court around the climax, there will be some organic addition that comes to you to bring that part further.

And of course, all this is a response to what you called “very very rough” and I’m not thinking in terms of recording quality or anything like that. I just wanted to comment because the song has a lot of life and I look forward to hearing where you take it.

  2. Hila! I LOVE it. It so perfectly describes (for me) the moment of pain. Thank you. I feel witnessed.

  3. Thanks for posting this nice article!
