  3. Dear Hila,

I am not sure how I came across your blog and the lovely Yiddish songs you have arranged, but am interested in the possibility of performing some or all of them. My young, professional chamber ensemble, CANTATICA, is presenting a concert at a synagogue in Allentown where we are locate. The concert is titled “Joyful, Jazzy and Jewish” and on it 12 singers, string quartet, flute, clarinet, piano, organ and percussion will present everything from Bernstein, Kernis, Gottlieb, Sargon and Glick to Gershwin, Kern, traditional songs and a little bit of Klezmer – vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles including chamber choir. I have been looking for some traditional songs to include on our program and think your arrangements might be just the thing. If we performed all five, I would prefer to do some as solos to add variety to the presentation, but it is possible we would only perform a couple of them.

Would it be possible for me to get copies of the scores? (You could send them as pdf files if you would like.) I would also like to know if you think any of them could work as solos (male or female)? I would also need to know what the cost for the music would be should we decide to purchase and perform it.

The date of the performance, by the way, is Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Temple Beth El in Allentown. I am in the process of finalizing the repertoire now.

Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,

    Michael Tamte-Horan
